Frequently Asked Questions

iDrive

Are cable cable drum wraps (snubbers) required?
Yes. They are required to keep the door counterbalance cables in the grooves of the cable drums. Should the door encounter an obstruction, they will prevent the cables from unspooling.

At what frequency does the unit operate?
The operating frequency is 372 MHz.

Does the idrive TorqueMaster opener have to be centered above the door?
No. It can be installed at any point along the tube above the garage door, provided there is enough disconnect cable to hang at least six feet off the ground on the right side.

How long is the power cord?
The opener comes with a 6 ft. power cord.

How can I increase the range of my wireless accessories?
The normal range of wireless accessories is 75 ft. To maximize this range, fully expose the antenna, and make sure it is completely vertical. To fasten the antenna to the wall, use tape as opposed to metallic fasteners.

What is the door height limitation?
The garage door should be no more than 8 ft. high.

What is the door weight limitation?
The garage door must be less than 225 lbs.

What is the door width limitation?
There is no garage door width limitation.

What is the purpose of the detent pin?
The detent pin adjusts the timing of the motor head pivot to the movement of the door. While the garage door is opening, the motor pivots up and the pin goes into the motor bushing to hold it in place. While the garage door is closing, the pin slowly moves out to the left as the door is released. When the door is completely closed, the pin is out of the bushing, releasing the motor. Only make adjustments on a properly balanced door.

Why does the unit shut down after running a few consecutive cycles?
If you run the garage door opener more than eight cycles in five minutes or for 6-8 consecutive cycles, the motor will shut down to prevent overheating. Recovery time is five minutes.

Will programming be lost in the event of a power outage?
No. Programming should not be lost if your power goes out.

Why does the garage door hesitate closing when activating my wireless unit?
Weak batteries in your wireless accessories are the probable cause. Replace batteries in both Photoelectric Sensors and in the Wall Station.

Why won’t my hand-held remote (Transmitter) program?
1) Unplug other garage door openers or any signal transmitting devices in the garage. 2) Be sure the green LED is solid before flashing during Step 2 of Changing Transmitter Code.

How many garage door openers can I program with one Keyless Entry Pad?

How many Keyless Entry pads can I program to my garage door opener?

I can't find the rail guide. What should I do?
The plastic rail guide is used to ensure that the rails are level. If it is missing, you may use any similar tool. However, the illustration of the plastic rail guide is not drawn to scale in your manual and may be located by looking for a smaller unit.

If I already programmed my Wireless Photoelectric Sensors, why does the Trolley travel a short distance from the open position and then reverse?
Your garage door must first be attached in order for the Wireless Sensors to function properly. The sensors only turn on when the door is activated and moving to help conserve battery life.

How do I operate my garage door in the event of a power outage?
Pull the red Emergency Release Cord to disconnect the chain latch from the Trolley. If it does not disconnect, lift the chain latch off the Trolley and pull the red cord.

What is the correct chain tension?
Measuring from the bottom of the chain to the rail, the chain should be approximately 5/8 inches above the rail.

What wire gauge used for the Photoelectric Sensors and Pushbuttons?
We use 22 gauge wires in our units. Using a different gauge of wire could disturb the proper operation of your unit.

What is the purpose of the A,B,C settings in the Wireless Photoelectric Sensors?
These settings allow you to control the Vibration Sensitivity Jumper Switch in the Emitter (Red LED). A=Most Sensitive, B=Normal, C=Least Sensitive. The benefit of the C setting is longer battery life.

When should I cut the plastic tie on my chain?
You can remove the plastic tie from the chain after you verify the rails are aligned (see Rail Assembly, Step 6.) Make sure that the chain is on the sprocket at the motor head.

Why do light bulbs burn out so often?
Extreme changes in outside temperature shorten a bulb's life, and excess vibration can cause the thinner filament of regular bulbs to burn out quickly. Try using a rough service bulb (for vibration) or a refrigerator bulb (for cold weather conditions).
